Military Dependents

So we all know how hard of life military members have. They are constantly getting deployed to countries thousands of miles from their loved ones. More than half see quite a bit of combat and in very many cases they come back with PTSD. Very many military members don't even live in some locations for more than a few months. Several constantly get new orders to go to a new base where they are needed. I am very proud of my husband who is an Air Force member. What I wish people would remember are the people that get left behind when the military members are deployed.
People seem to forget about the mothers and fathers that are turned in to single parents that are expect to keep thing going while their loved one is so far away. Don't get me wrong the soldiers that fight for their country are extremely important but without the knowledge that their loved ones are doing good at home keeps them going. Having people you care about back home motivates soldiers to keep fighting to survive and to come home. Quite a few people don't understand how hard it is to have someone that is your best friend and lover be taken from you for months even years at a time. There are countless nights where you lie awake wondering if your soldier is thinking about you. You cry missing that feeling of comfort you get when they are lying next to you in the bed. You're expected to hold your head high and show everyone that you are strong. That you are capable of getting things done in your soldiers stead so they don't have to worry. So that your soldier is confident that their partner is able to handle things till they get home.
What most people don't understand about the wives/ husbands that get left behind while the soldier is deployed is the depression that sets in. Most won't show it but inside they are crying. Not everyone knows about how they sleep with their cell phones in their hands waiting for that one phone call. Just to get that couple of minutes to hear their voice so you don't forget the sound of it. So many try to stay strong for their children some of which are too young to understand why mommy or daddy can't be there. The first deployment is always the hardest one but after that you get used to it. It's never easy to say good bye to the person you love most in the world but you know that they have a job they have to do.
I would say when you see a soldier walking with their wife/husband shake that soldier's hand and say "thank you". At the same time make sure to say thank you to the dependent that gets left behind to hold things together for their soldier. If it weren't for either the soldier or the dependent we might not get to enjoy the freedoms that we have.

Video Gaming

As the years have gone by more and more video games have come out. Super Mario at one point was the most popular game out there now these days it's games like Halo or World of Warcraft. Whether you prefer to play PC games or console games (Xbox, Play Station, etc) there's a game out there for everyone. My problem though isn't finding a game that I enjoy. It's hearing all this negative comments about how games are what are making children these days so violent or over weight.
You might as well be saying that this kind of music is making my child think a certain way. You could even go as far as saying that the movies coming out like Star Wars VII or the Avengers is doing the same thing. Games aren't what are making kids more violent these days. The soul responsibility lies with the parents. Pay attention to the age recommendations listed on a game for starters. There is a reason you find ratings on games like MA. Give your children age appropriate games if you're worried about them becoming easily swayed by a game to act a certain way. If you're truly worried that your child is going to act a certain way after playing a video game then don't let them play it. Make sure their friends parents are aware that your child isn't allowed to play this game. Stop blaming the video games for your child acting out. It is your fault in the end because you didn't set limitations for your child.
True there are quite a lot of games out there that have violence in them but there are quite a lot that don't have violence in them. For example the game Portal is actually a very successful console game that is a puzzle game with a back story to it. Even a lot of the Kinect games are ones that promote team work and fitness. I have gone to parties were we all had a blast playing Kinect games and since we were moving we actually got some exercise out of it too. I have a niece and nephew that play only WII games like Super Mario Brothers and they always seem to have fun. The biggest thing I do notice is that their parents limit the time they spend playing video games. They actually give them time on video games for each chore that they finish. As much as I like playing my video games making sure your child doesn't spend hours upon hours playing games is a must. When they are an adult they can make that decision of how much they play themselves. As a parent it's your responsibility to make sure that your child does more than make a dent on the couch. Get them involved in clubs or after school activities. Don't let your child just waste away putting on pound after pound because you couldn't tell them "no more video games". Your child won't have a weight problem or possible diabetes if you make sure they are actually active as well as eat right.
Rather than blaming video games for the way your child is try looking in the mirror. Are you bothering to check what kind of games your child is playing? Are you bothering to make sure they have a limit of how long they can play? If you answered no to both of these questions then you can only blame yourself. You can only blame yourself if you feel that your child is violent. You can only blame yourself if your child can't do anything else but sit in front of the television gaining weight. It's not that hard to tell your child turn off the game or that they can't play that game.

Unfaithful

It seems like the more the years go by the less important it seems to people to be faithful to their significant other. I've come across so many elderly couples that have been together for thirty plus years and have managed to remain faithful to each other. If they can do it why is it so hard for people these days to do it as well? It doesn't seem like that hard of a concept to grasp for me. You made a commitment to someone and it's not hard to honor that commitment till you two end your relationship. At the very least have enough respect for your significant other to let them go so they can find someone that is worth their time and effort.
There are so many excuses that people make for the reason they cheat on their significant other but by far the worst was that "it was an accident". Really? Falling off your bike is an accident. Getting in to a fender bender is an accident. Even getting a paper cut is an accident. Making the choice to cheat on another person is not an accident. You made a conscious choice to betray the trust of your significant other. You chose to make them seem like a fool for trusting you and breaking their heart. Worst though is making them feel like they were wasting their time being with you when they could have been with someone else. Maybe they could have been with someone would you would be loyal and faithful to them. You can't gave them that time back once it's been taken especially when you believed that the two of you would be together till you're wrinkled and grey haired.
I don't understand why you would betray someone rather then just end things with them. It's not as hard as people would like to think to just leave your significant other if you aren't happy with them. The sad part is that it's even easy just to talk to your significant other to fix whatever your problems you're having. If you feel like your problems can't be fixed just move on with your lives and go your separate ways. Don't make things worth by cheating on your significant other. That's just adding fuel to the fire and could completely shatter your relationship.
Not only are you betraying someone when you cheat on them you're also damaging them psychologically.  That person is left to wonder what is wrong with them that the person they care about or even love would betray them. They look in the mirror trying to figure out how to make themselves better so that you will like them more. The next relationship they are in after you will leave them questioning if this person will betray them as well and could cause problems in their relationships. Even the person with the highest self esteem will be left wondering if they are physically appealing. They check every part of their body seeing imperfections that aren't actually there. If you care about some one or even claim to why would you want to put someone through this kind of misery. When you cheat on your significant other you might as well be spitting in their face. Cheating on someone is not a sign of caring for someone. It's a sign that you are selfish and don't know how to be loyal/faithful to someone.
For all of you going in to the future try being less selfish and just end your relationship if you feel like you are going to cheat on them. Don't degrade yourself in that manner because you're just leaving a mark on yourself that you aren't someone that can be trusted. No one wants to be in a relationship with someone if their loyalty is in question before they even begin a relationship.

Criminals

There are so many people out there that have a hard time making an honest life. Most that are weak willed end up going the easy route that leads to criminal activities. True stealing or even selling drugs can make you pretty easy money usually. What people don't seem to realize though is going this so called easy route is actually more selfish in the end. When you get yourself in to criminal activities you're destroying not only your own families lives but the lives of the victims of your crimes. Some even get several brushes with the law before they are finally caught. After the first scare with the police you would think that would be enough to get them to go back to the straight and narrow. Yet some are just to thick headed to get the hint.
Those criminals out there though that don't even care about the people they hurt are the worst. Especially those that are career criminals. In my opinion you're just saying I'm making a career of hurting the people around me and going to jail. By being a career criminal you aren't successful in anything besides causing harm to a lot of innocent people. There has never been an actually successful career criminal. Everyone of them have eventually gotten caught and put away in prison to rot. In a way those criminals that start out in poverty you're saving it's better to have your freedom taken away that fight to make your life better. It's better to be locked up with other dangerous people that could potentially hurt you or even kill you. Like I have said in a previous blog entry it's better to work for what you have. If you feel that your life is so bad that you need to become a criminal to supposedly make your life better.
Sure your life could be a better for a split second as a criminal but that tiny moment isn't worth all the trouble that comes with it. You're now a criminal which means that you're going to have a hard time with society actually trusting you. How can any one really trust someone that's stolen from a person's home, beat up a person that couldn't defend themselves or even taking another person's life. If you even manage to get out of jail in your life time then you have to fight to show society that you have changed. Finding a job alone would be extremely difficult because most companies are against hiring felons. Then there is even those that have children that were taken from them because of their criminal activity. Your child is now labeled the child of a criminal and most people tend to think that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. These poor kids get stereotyped in thinking that they aren't any better than their criminal parent. Quite a few even become criminals as well because when you're told something enough times you eventually believe it.
It's never worth becoming a criminal no matter what your situation is. Whether you're doing drugs to numb whatever pain your feeling or you're just trying to make your life better financially. It's never a good idea because in the end you'll just destroy your life and possibly even end it.

Reality Stars

I think I've lost count of how many reality television shows are out there. I personally enjoy watching these shows mostly to laugh at how moronic most of these people are. The sad part is they are only famous for being famous. They aren't doing anything that is life changing for the world and their shows don't really have any real story to them. Reality television shows are there for people to watch something where it's real people doing things that most wouldn't normally do.
For example the popular reality television show Jersey Shore went for five seasons and all it was about is a group of people spending the summer together. All the people on this show really did was party all the time, get drunk and sleep around. Yet these people have become famous for doing something that makes them look like sluts and douche bags. Granted some of them might have a good heart but what part of taking home a different person every night to have sex with on camera a good thing? You're portraying yourself in a very negative light to the world and even after the show stops airing you're left with that title.
Then there is the show Real World that's been going on for little over a decade now. I'm pretty surprised that this show has gone on for so long seeing as it's the same thing every season. They pick a group of random people the producers feel will make for interesting television and live together for about three months. At least Jersey Shore only lasted five seasons because there was only so much they could do. After so many seasons of strangers living together you would think people would be bored of this show. Every season there is a guy and girl that fall for each other. Then there is always the jerk of the house that everyone hates. There is always even that one person who has the significant other back home that they end up cheating on. I don't even think any one actually watches this show any more or even cares about it. Yet some how these people are famous and asked to show up at clubs for a fee. How does it make sense that you're famous for making an ass of yourself on national television?
What the people on these reality television shows don't realize is that what they do in front of the camera is going to be out there for the rest of their lives. Most of the people on the reality television shows do everything from cussing at each other to having sex on camera. More than half of these people are young adults and don't realize that their are some employers in their future that might look back on these shows as a negative thing. These people don't even think about how they come off when their families watch the shows. I get that they are grown adults and can make their own decisions. What I don't understand is why they don't think before they act. It's not that hard to go "oh I'm about to do something I might regret later" then don't do especially when there is a large audience watching you on television. Would you feel good about yourself if someone came up to you saying "I know you from that show where you showed your titties at that party"? What if someone said that in front of your children? In the end you only have yourself to blame for what you did on television especially if it was something negative.
I'll always enjoy watching reality televisions shows but I do wish that the people on these shows were a bit more intelligent. It's truly not that hard to make the right decisions that you won't regret later on in your life. My advise to these people that go on the reality television shows is before you do something think about whether or not you're going to regret it later on.

Rant #2

Okay I work as a photographer and I photograph everything from newborn babies to large families. I work in a studio located inside of a Target and contrary to popular belief I am a professional. I truly enjoy photography and working with the children that come in to my studio. True sometimes I get those kids that can't sit still or take direction really well. I don't blame those children though, I blame the parents. Some of the parents that I get in my studio are a real piece of work.
I've had those parents that want every little detail of their child's pictures to be perfect from their hair to their smile. I understand wanting your child to look good in their pictures but when you're telling your child to smile naturally when they all ready are you are making it worse. Not every child's smile looks model perfect because they are children and they still growing. They are still trying to figure out how their bodies work. Worst are the parents with the babies that are three months old or younger saying they want a picture of their baby smiling. I want to roll my eyes at these parents especially when they all ready have one or more children. No baby actually smiles at that age because the muscles in their cheeks are still developing and they don't know how to work them just yet. The only times I've seen a babies smile that young is by tickling their cheeks as well as being quick with the camera or if they have gas. Thinking you're child can smile so perfectly on command when they are seven or younger is unrealistic. When I've watched these parents tell their young children to smile on command it just makes them more rigid and nervous. I understand that parents are just trying to help but they are just making it harder for me to do my job. Instead of telling your child to smile on command like they are a dog try doing something that would make them laugh. It would make more sense to have them enjoy being there rather then feel bad about themselves for not "smiling naturally".
The next set of parents I wish I could just boot out are the ones that believe they are special. I even had a woman just yesterday that I tried calling at 10:30 am to let her know that the appointment she booked online for 4 pm wasn't available because that is when we close. We even tried calling her a second time throughout the day as well as leaving her two voice mails  Needless to say she showed up at four. When I told her that we attempted several times to call her throughout the day her response was "I have a newborn. I can't check my voice mail". She then proceeded to ask me if we would have sent an email. So she would have checked her email but not her voice mail? I've even had customers come in knowing very well that we're booked every twenty minutes apart since it is Christmas season expecting to do five outfit changes on their two year old. I wouldn't do that many outfit changes on a two year to even begin with since after one outfit change they are usually fed up. There are even those that are late for their appointment to the point that the one scheduled after then actually showed up on time. Naturally I would take back the person that was on time so that appointment that was late is left waiting till I have time. I want to kick these people out of my studio because half the time they expect to get some kind of special treatment because they had to wait. You were late for your appointment so no I will not treat you like you are on a pedestal.
I do have a lot of parents that I love seeing when they come in to my studio. They are the ones that actually make my job even more worth while doing. So for those of you out there that believe that your photographer is supposed to be a miracle worker when you bring in your child after a doctors appointment, with no nap or even sick. No child is going to want to smile in that kind of situation so get off your high horse and quit blaming someone else as to why your child is clearly unhappy.

Abortion

Another hot issue out there right now is the topic of abortion. Both sides try to make their arguments as to why it should be illegal or legal for a woman to get an abortion. Both sides have a very long list of points they try to make. Personally I'm all for making abortions legal within reason.
One side says that you shouldn't be allowed to abort a fetus no matter how small it is. Some has even gone as far as trying to say that they should get rid of the Plan B pill or even birth control pills. The reason for getting rid of these pills is that "they are a poison to the body". Why would you want to get rid of a way that a woman tries to prevent pregnancy because they feel they aren't ready for a child? We don't need more reasons as to why so many children are in foster homes or even live in orphanages waiting for a nice couple to adopt them. I understand where they say that a life is a life no matter how small. If you become pregnant because you chose to have sex unprotected then you should at least carry the baby to term. I'm sure there is a very good couple out there that are looking to adopt a new born baby. It's not the best feeling in the world giving up a baby but I say that's better to do than not even give the child a chance. It's better even if you weren't ready in the first place to take care of a child.
On the other side there is the people that say that it should be legal because it is the woman's body and she should be allowed to do what she choose to it. Just like everyone has the right to do what they want to their body from tattoos all the way to plastic surgery a woman has the right to do what she wants to her body. Personally I believe that a woman should be allowed to have an abortion after traumatic incidents like rape. Would you ever want you child knowing that their life was created from an act of violence? Would they want your child to know that their father was someone who is not only a criminal but a monster? In a way I feel that it's similar to thinking about having children knowing that you carry a disease that is hereditary  I've even seen stories and video of those protesting abortion clinics harassing those that go in. I don't feel that this ever the best approach to trying to get people to hear your message. You're only portraying yourself as a bully and bigot when you harass someone walking in to an abortion clinic. For all you know they aren't even going in for the reason you're accusing them off. When a woman's baby that she is carrying actually dies in the woman they have to an abortion clinic to remove the dead fetus. These I personally feel are legitimate reasons to have an abortion.
I see where each side of the argument of abortion has it's good reasons but telling someone they have no say in what they can do to their body is wrong. Just allow a person to actually make up their own mind with what they do with their body.

Silver Plate

Okay so what I don't understand is how people expect things to happen in their life without them putting in any kind of work. You can't expect to have everything handed to you on a silver plate. When everything is handed to you this way you don't appreciate anything that you have. Then when you do lose what is given to you quite a few people would blame the person that did the taking. When something has been taken from you that you didn't remotely work for or even earn you can only blame yourself. Nothing in life is worth having if you don't work for it.
You can't expect to truly get anywhere in life if you don't work hard. You can't truly get a good paying job if you don't put the time and effort in it to learn the career you wish to go in. If you feel what is holding you back is a college degree there is always a way to get one. Their are scholarships of all kinds out there and even community colleges that aren't as expensive as a traditional college. You've got to start somewhere and if that place is at a community college then so be it. At least you can say that you are working to make your life better. When you're done with community college that degree could potential making you enough money so you can afford to go to a traditional college. There is even financial aid or even grants that you can get. You can't expect to just sit on the coach every day drinking a beer and think you'll just magically get that dream job you've always wanted. Even those that have successful at home businesses (Mary Kay, Avon or even Team BeachBody) have had to work to earn the money that they make.
Even those that are in committed relationships that think "oh we're perfect together because we don't fight" that is not always the cause. Even the most perfect couple butt heads every once in awhile. You've got to work at a relationship. You can't expect you're relationship with your significant other to last through the long haul if you two don't actually work on your relationship. Problems are bound to come up in your relationship and it's all about how you two work together to fix that problem. You've got to work on communicating with each other and letting each know when they're doing something that bothers you. Never let things just build up till either of you explode. It's unhealthy to do that and it could just make things worse than they actually are. When you actually put the work in to your relationship you'll have a long and happy time together for as long as you're together.
I hate when I come across those parents that have worked for everything they have and think it's okay to hand their children everything. It's nice to try and give your children a better life than what you had growing up. Just don't hand them everything to the point where they think they don't have to work for anything because mommy and daddy will give it too them. All the things that I had to save my money to buy growing up I took extremely care of knowing very well that I would have to replace it if it was damaged. When one of those kids/teenagers that get handed everything breaks say an IPod they begged for they usually just go "oh well my parents will just buy me a new one". Try actually teaching you're children how to work for what they have so when they become adults they don't know how to handle the real world. The real world won't care that mommy and daddy handed them everything on a silver plate. The real world will only care if they know how to do what needs to be done. How can someone appreciate all that life can offer if they were never taught how to work for it?
Long story short if you don't even bother to work to better your life how can you expect it to get better? How can you appreciate anything in your life if you've never had to work for anything you have? The only way to truly get what you want in life is to work for it.

Bullies

One of the things that I really hate about this world is the fact that there are so many bullies. It amazes me that to this day there is always a bully in every group of a hundred people. You would think after all the things that have happened over the years due to bullies people would think that "hey I shouldn't bully people". Over the past couple of years there have been school shootings caused by teenagers that got tired of being bullied and didn't think that there was anything else they could do. There are even situations where people have even committed suicide due to people around them continuously being put down. It even amazes me that those that bully people that end up committing suicide or even lashing out at those tormenting them some even think that it's only the one being bullied's fault.
Usually when you come across someone that bullies those around them the most typical reason is that their own self confidence is very low. Most bullies usually go after someone that they wish they were more like in one way or another. Even worst though is those bullies that pick on people around just because they enjoy seeing other's in misery. How is it that you can some how get in to the mindset that another person's misery will make you feel better? What part of another human beings suffering would make you feel joy? I wonder when these people look around to see that no one cares about them if they actually feel anything. I don't think any human being truly enjoys being alone but when you're a bully that's the only route you're heading down. When a person chooses to bully someone or the people around them all they are doing is pushing everyone away from them. Why would any one want to be around someone that does nothing but put them down?
What most people don't realize though is that just standing by and letting the bullying happen is just as bad as the bullying. No one wants to know that there is someone just standing there watching when they could do something to help. If you are being bullied though you especially should be saying something. Never just stand back and let someone bully you. If you're in high school or lower go to a teacher or even just straight to the principal. Never let someone keep putting you down or even physically hurting you. The bully in my life that I had growing up I allowed it to go on for far too long. I got to the point where I didn't even want to wake up in the morning. It wasn't till I finally said something that the bullying finally stopped. If I had just said something way sooner I wouldn't have spent so much time suffering. I wouldn't have gotten to such a low point. For those of you out there that are being bullied speak up. Fight back (not literally).
So for those of you out there bullying people you might want to grow up. All you're doing is showing how little substance you have and you're only going to end up alone in your life. For those of you being bullied I hope that you have the strength to fight back to stop the person from bullying you.

Perfect Body

I never understood how the standards of a woman's beauty went from being curvy (roughly around a 11) to being skinny (a size 5 or less) With the model's and actress' in the media that are being portrayed to the world it isn't hard to see why so many women have bad body images. The media have set the standards of what they believe beauty is so high that its actually unrealistic. Not every woman in the world can be the size two with C cup breast. Woman come in all shapes and sizes just like men do. Most women's metabolism won't allow for them to be able to eat what ever they want and expect to not gain any weight. In my opinion women shouldn't worry about those women in the media. Instead just work on keeping yourself healthy. If you stop worrying about every other woman around you you'll actually be so much happier.
This next part goes out to all the men. Why would you want to date a woman that's so skinny you can see her ribs? Literally most men seem to want the woman that looks like she's breakable. These women that are size 2's usually don't have very good self esteem or confidence. It would make more sense to me to look for a woman with curves that holds her head high from self confidence. One of the most beautiful models out there is Marilyn Monroe who was actually a size 12. She was not only a model but and actress as well as a singer. This very successful woman wasn't a size 2 and wasn't literally skin and bones. If I'm going to try to aim for a woman in the media to try and emulate I would pick her. Her body type is one that is quite achievable just from eating healthy and having a regular exercise routine. Setting up a goal to reach when it comes to trying to lose weight for woman isn't a bad thing but don't make that goal one that leads you to a size 0. What some women don't realize is that there is such a thing as being too skinny and that can be quite unhealthy. I would very much be a size 8 or 10 and be healthy than being a size 2 or 5 and feeling like I have no energy to do anything.
For all those women out there that are trying to hard to be that perfect image of a female body, STOP. There is no such thing as the perfect body. There are all kinds of body shapes out there and standing in front of the mirror saying that this and that is wrong with your body isn't what you should be doing. Even plastic surgery isn't going to give you that perfect image you're looking for. Instead just strive to be healthy and happy. When you achieve these two you're self esteem will follow. Just by getting healthy I've noticed my self esteem is better than it ever has been in my entire life. I've stopped really caring about what everyone thinks about my body. Instead I care more about just enjoying life and not worrying as much. Just got to kick the stress of achieving that perfect body out the window. Wouldn't you want to get rid of stress in your life even if it's a little one? Wouldn't it be easier to be happy if their is less stress in your life?

Depression

You hear every day it seems of someone knew dealing with depression. Most seem to think that being diagnosed with depression is a joke and don't think that it should be taken seriously. Those that suffer from depression can actually be quite self destructive especially when the people around them don't really take it seriously. Those that suffer from depression can go as far as physically harming themselves and even committing suicide. The sad fact is that all these people need is just one person to care enough to step in and fight to help that person.
People that suffer from depression have a variety of reason's as to why they are depressed. In some cases it's as simple as someone is being bullied by a small minded person. It can go as far as having something traumatic happen in your life. Even adults with high demanding jobs can suffer from depression due to the stress they have to deal with day to day. There are several medications out there that can help with depression but there are for some when medication doesn't completely cut it. On top of medication some seek out help from a therapist. Just the act of being able to talk to someone that cares enough to listen and help a person talk through their issues can help a great deal. Another people way to help with depression some doctors actually recommend adding exercise to your daily routine. Exercise actually releases endorphin's in the body that is a chemical that helps you reduce your perception of pain. In turn it helps reduce stress and anxiety in the body. I personally do suffer from depression due to a traumatic incident in my child hood. I do take an anti-depressant but I go running 3 miles any where from 5 to 6 times a week. I'm happier than I've been in a long time and even my husband has noticed a difference in my attitude when he came back from his deployment. There are a variety of ways to help you with your depression. It's just about finding those ways and pushing yourself to actually try them out. If what you're trying isn't working try something else. You only really fail when you don't try at the very least.
For those people out there that know of someone that suffers from depression don't be rude to them. Don't tell them just "get over it". Saying that right there just shows how little you actually care and you could potentially be making that person's depression worse. For all you know they just needed someone to sit there and listen to them tell you want is wrong. It's not going to hurt you just to sit there and listen. For all any one could know is that the person suffering from depression could be dangling off the edge and just need someone to pull them back. If it weren't for one of my dear friends in high school going out of her way to snap me back to reality I might not be here. I'm forever grateful to that friend for just caring enough to make sure that I made it from day to day. That's all it took back then to stop me from cutting. A single person with enough heart to just be there for me.
So for those of you that are suffering from depression there are ways out there to help with your depression. Don't just give up and say that "I'm just going to be depressed my whole life". That moment you give in is the moment that you'll most likely never come back from it. Lastly if you know about anyone that is suffering from depression rather then assuming it's nothing serious actually have some compassion. Would you want someone to tell you "get over it" if you're depressed and just want someone to talk to?

Equal Rights

So the most recent hot topic these days is same sex marriage. There as so many people that say that it shouldn't be legal for those that are gay or lesbian's to get married to the person that they love. Then on the other side there those that are fighting to help make same sex marriages legal. Both sides have their own arguments as to why they are right yet personally I feel that those that want to make the commitment of marriage should be allowed to whether they are man and woman or even same sex.
Why shouldn't someone be allowed to make the commitment of marriage in front of their friends and family? It shouldn't matter if it is a same sex couple. Those that are in a relationship and truly love each other should be allowed to have the right to marry whom ever they choose to marry. All the reason's I seem to hear as to why it should be illegal to have same sex marriages is religious. It's all about the Bible says this and that against gay marriage yet these people seem to forget something very important. One of the reasons that America was first founded was for religious freedom and when the government was founded they separated church from state. If church wasn't separated from state then so many freedoms would have been taken from us. We might even still be living in an age where there was still segregation. Instead of trying to force your religious views on someone because they want to marry the person they love try actually doing something better with your time. Instead you could be fighting to help get rid of white extremest's or even helping with dealing with things as simple as people who are struggling to live day to day. Why waste your energy on something that makes you look like closed minded religious nuts?
Would you want to have someone tell you that you couldn't be married to the person you want to spend the rest of your life? If you wouldn't want someone to take away something that you have the right or even privilege to do you shouldn't be doing it to someone else. No one wants to have another person's views shoved down their throats and told "either you agree with me or you'll suffer dearly for it". Everyone has a right to choose how to live their life whether it be gay, straight or even bi-sexual. Just because a person is attracted to the same sex doesn't make that person any less of a person. They aren't going to be going straight to hell for loving whom they love. That should never be a reason that a person's soul would be condemned. If anything I would say those that steal, murder or cause a human being harm would be the ones with the black souls. I'm not a religious person but I do believe that if you live an honest life you aren't going to go to hell for it. So how does being gay or bi-sexual mean that you're going to hell?
Before you decide to tell someone they can't marry a person because they are the same sex try being a little more open minded. It's not that hard to just let people love who they want to love without making them feel dirty about it. No one wants to feel like they are disgusting and wrong for loving whom they love. Would you?

Temporary Fix

It's kind of sad that one the most profitable business out there is plastic surgery. Why would you want to go to a doctor that tells you literally what is wrong with your appearance? If you go in just to find out  about what they offer they still tell you all kinds of things. They tell you how there isn't symmetry in your face which is why you don't look desirable to men/women. If you didn't have self esteem issues before walking in to the plastic surgeons office you will afterwards. It's ridiculous how much money they make just to tell you you're ugly because of one reason or another. The worst part is those that go in to get the procedure done don't even need it. They just a negative view of themselves even though people around them tell them how beautiful or handsome they are.
I can see where plastic surgery would be useful for those that were in some kind of accident. Like burn victims would want their skins grafted just so that they feel normal. If you truly feel that when you look in the mirror you hate the way you look due to some kind of accident then I say go for the plastic surgery. But if you're looking in the mirror and start to think things like "my nose is too big", "I'm too fat" or even "my lips aren't full enough" then honestly you don't need it. In this case you want the plastic surgery for shallow reasons. So what if you don't look exactly like a Victoria's Secret model or a Kalvin Klein model. Not everyone is meant to look the same and look completely perfect. Life would be boring if everyone looked the same. The sad part is most of people body issues they have can be fixed by just doing some exercises. Doing a quick fix will only put a band aide over what body issues you're having. Most plastic surgery procedures that are done for vain reasons you can actually tell that it's fake. Like some nose jobs are done in a way that you know it's not their real nose. Even plastic surgery on a woman's breasts can look fake especially when a woman's breast aren't supposed to actually stay in place. The most common plastic surgery for men of course is liposuction. That's a major temporary fix especially if you don't change your eating habits that got you to that point that you needed liposuction then there is no point in getting the surgery. If you just end up putting the weight back on then you just wasted thousands of dollars. In my opinion if you're looking to change your appearance because of a shallow reason like "I don't like how this part of my body looks" then you don't need surgery you need therapy. It sounds like to me you need to change how you think and perceive yourself rather then spending thousands on dollars putting yourself most likely in debt to get a fix you might dislike later.
I would much rather save my money for a trip to like the Bahamas where I can make memories that use that money for a temporary fix. The temporary fix isn't going to last forever and when it's finally gone you're just going to be left with the same empty feeling. Why not look in to something that will give you the permanent fix that will in the long run make you happy.

So Called Bad Girls

Okay so you're a bad girl and it usually means that you don't care about anyone else. So many so called bad girls get in to fights over the most ridiculous things. Most of these bad girls go as far as stabbing the people they say are their friends in the back or even cheating on their significant other. The worst part of these situations is that they are actually proud of the things they do. Why would you be proud of being considered a slut and a terrible person all around? I don't even understand how there are even people that would want to around these so called bad girls. Why would someone want a person in their life that openly is terrible to everyone and doesn't care?
I am sad to admit that one of my guilty pleasures is watching the Bad Girls Club on the Oxygen Network. Season after season I watch these women get on national television proclaiming how they are a bad girl because they are the life of the party and don't give a shit what people think of them. From my perspective they are a bad girl because they are willing to get in to fist fights and call each other pretty much every name in the book. My favorite line (I think sarcastically) in the entire series is that some of them claim they are classy women. How in the world are you a classy woman when you are having sex on national television? Classy women don't go dancing  knowing very well they are wearing a dress that is extremely short. I've lost count of the number of underwear I've seen because these women are dancing sexy  forgetting that when they squat down their dresses go up to their stomachs. These so called classy women have even done wet t-shirt contests without wearing a bra. When I see these so called bad girls I don't think of someone that I would want to be around. If I were to see these women in real life I would definitely be going in the opposite direction from them.
While watching this series I've also noticed a very common trait among all these bad girls. They have no sense of loyalty when it comes to their relationships whether it be friends or boyfriends. They have repeatedly sad that this person or that person is their friend in the house. The next thing I know they are talking crap about that person behind their back or even getting in to a fight with them. Most of them enter the house they are staying in for the duration of the show say they have boyfriends waiting for them back home. It isn't even a week in to the show before they seem to be looking for someone just to have sex with. Why have a boyfriend if you're just going to cheat on them? You clearly can't be loyal to just one person so why make that commitment? Just remain single and quit wasting someone's time that could be with someone that actually treats them right. Do these women even realize that their boyfriends back home will eventually watch the show and see the evidence of them being cheated on? Most of these women just keep some of the guys around because they give them stuff. One girl in the most recent season has an older guy she sees that has the nickname of Mr. Yes because he never says no to anything she asks for. So not only do these bad girls not know how to be faithful but most seem to be gold diggers. Why would anyone want to be with women like this?
I'll never quite understand why a woman that claims they are a classy woman would fight, cuss, show off their underwear, and sleep around. I would never be proud of myself for doing any of those things. I would feel so lonely because honestly I wouldn't have any friends because no one around me could trust me. I would much rather be the good girl who knows how to have a good time without hurting any of the people around me in the process. Would you want someone like this in your life?

Rant #1

All right so I'm so tired of being nice to people who just turn around and just pretty much slap you in the face. I mean what have I ever done to you that would warrant for you to be a complete bitch to me every time I see you? Is it really necessary to put me down and speak to me like I'm a little child? I'm tired of feeling like I just want to curl up in a ball and cry every time I see this person. I have never done anything to this person yet I feel like I keep going out of my way to help them when they don't deserve it. If I had a say in it I probably wouldn't be around this person. I really shouldn't be helping them ever yet my better nature always gets the better of me. I can't seem to help it when it comes to doing nice things for this person or anyone that I see that is in need.
I've done everything from making sure this person eats to actually babysitting their child. I do so much yet I'm always getting bitched out for one thing or another. The worst part is that I could do something as little as forgetting to call someone back and they go off the handle on a thirty minute tirade about how my decision was stupid. The worst part is I've asked people around me if they notice that this person treats me differently than everyone else. The unanimous answer was that this person does. They treat me far more harshly then the other people around me. There have even been incidents where this person has actually gotten mad at me for something someone else has done. Then when I tell them that they are getting mad at the wrong person they just rudely say "just making sure you don't do it". At the end of the day I can only guess one reason as to why this person treats me this way and I realize how conceded this sounds. They are jealous that I'm happy while they are miserable.
While this person is in no relationship while in their thirties I am happily married. This person is currently overweight while I've actually taken the initiative and am currently in the best shape of my life. Financially we are the same living paycheck to paycheck but I'm still perfectly happy. This person keeps complaining about how miserable they are and how lonely they are. I'm so tired of trying to be nice to this person and reassure them when all they do it seems is to try to tear me down. I'm not going to pretend that I'm unhappy because you aren't just to make you feel better. Try acting your age and realize that if you actually decide to be happy you will be. Quit trying to make everyone around you miserable just to make yourself feel better. At this point this person to me is just an acquaintance. Why would I consider someone that treats me like crap a friend? At this point I'm tired of trying to talk to this person about how they are treating me. It just goes in one ear and out the other. Until this person actually treats me with some respect they are not going to be anything more than someone is see every so often.
Before I conclude this post I would like to say that I'm well aware that this is a rant and there is most likely nothing is going to change what is going on in the future. After typing this out I do feel quite a bit better. Sometimes all you need to do is let out a little steam.

Macho Men

All right so what I don't understand is how we're in the twentieth century yet there are still men out there that think they can talk down to women. What part of society these days has made it all right for men to think they can still treat women like they are beneath them? I thought after all the struggles women had to go through so that we could be treated equally would have sunk in by now. What gives a man the right to treat a woman with disrespect especially when they had done nothing to warrant that kind of behavior? Would a man want their son to grow up treating women without any kind of respect? I know if my son were to treat women like they were a lesser being I would be ashamed of that child.
For example I work for a company called Lifetouch so our studios are inside of Jc Penney's and Targets. The managers of these studios have to work side by side with the store managers. Well the manager of the Target that my studio is located at treats my manager and her staff (including me) like we're beneath him and we have to follow his rules. One we do not work for this man and two he has no right to tell us how to run the studio. I have witness times when my manager (who is a woman) tries to talk to him about issues we are having. He either blatantly ignores her or gets in her face towering over her. It is never okay to throw around your authority like that especially when you are a six foot man talking to a 5'4" woman. Getting in to someone's face like that is just a way of trying to intimidate them in to listening to you. Thankfully my manager is a stronger woman than that and doesn't let this small minded man push her around.
Another example is something that had recently happened to me. I am a military wife that lives right on base so I feel safe going on daily runs with my dog. He's a big dog since he is half German Shepard and half Austrian Hound. I have no issues with keeping him in line but today I had a couple run by me so I made sure I had a hold on his collar knowing how excited he is when he meets new people. Well the man decided to run right beside me so close that I could smell the sweat on him. Naturally my dog wants to be protective and nips at the guy. Turns out his teeth got caught in the mans shorts and he ripped the guys shorts. I had made sure to apologize right away for what my dog had done and reprimanded my dog on the spot. The man on the other hand tells me "Keep a better watch on your dog. I nearly just kicked his ass." One if he had remotely tried to touch my dog I would have kicked his ass even though he was over six feet tall. Two there was no need to be that hostile. I understand perfectly well that my dog had done something wrong. Normally my dog doesn't act that way so this is actually an isolated incident. The guy decides to come back after me just to tell me that in the future I should cross the street when I see someones coming towards me. He even went as far as saying that he's worried about my dog biting a chunk out of one of his four kids legs. I understand why he is worried for his children but I would never allow my dog near a child if I thought he was dangerous. My dog has been around children plenty of times and has never once hurt them even when the child is rough housing with him. This military man thought it would be all right to talk down to me like I was one of his men under him and belittle me when I tried to assure him that my dog usually doesn't do things like this. His response to this is "I don't care how your dog is usually". I wouldn't even be allowed to have my dog on base if he was remotely dangerous. I had to take him to the front office so they could meet him and approve him (ironically they have been bite by more poodles than any other bred). I'm sorry if this part comes off as a rant but I did not appreciate the way this military man spoke to me with his wife standing a few feet behind him. If she remotely agreed with him she would have been standing beside him. Wouldn't you stand beside someone if you agreed with what they are doing?
I think there are some men in our society that need to take a strong hard look at the way the talk/treat women. We are just as capable as a man to do anything they can. For those men out there that do treat women without respect try looking at yourself in a mirror. Would the woman who raised you be proud of the man you are?

Just Cause They Sparkle

So back in the day whenever you read about vampires in novels or even in the media they were actually terrifying creatures. In Buffy the Vampire Slayer their faces actually twisted in become grotesque creatures. In an Anne Rice novel they were mysterious and dangerous at the same time. Even in the Cirque Du Freak series by Darren Shan vampires were fearsome creatures. Now these days every teen age girl has become obsessed with vampires that sparkle in sunlight like diamonds.
I have read the entire Twilight series and enjoyed the romance angle of the series. In all seriousness if you saw a vampire that sparkles would you be afraid of them? Vampires are supposed to creatures that are supposed to be dangerous and beautiful at the same time. When you think about Dracula you're first thought isn't "oh he's so cute and foreboding that I want to get to know him better". Most would think about how much this creature of the night scares you. Besides where in all of history of the vampire legends does it say they stay out of the sunlight cause they sparkle? If I saw a vampire sparkle in the sunlight I think I would probably laugh first before I would think to be scared. When a vampire steps in the sunlight it's supposed to burn their skin and possibly even killed them. I wouldn't say that the creatures in the Twilight series are vampires honestly. The only trait they really have in common with vampires is the need to drink blood. Just that alone doesn't mean they are vampires.
Vampires aren't supposed to have special abilities like being able to read minds or even seeing the future. The only abilities they are supposed to have is super strength, super speed, immortality, and the ability to compel someone to do their bidding. In that case if they are capable of doing so much more than that then they might as well be wearing tights and a cape. Have them go ahead and join the Justice League. I would much rather read about a vampire that's cunning like a feline in the wild hunting it's prey. I want to read about a vampire that's got a insane taste for blood so much so that it can never be satisfied. Wouldn't you rather read something about a vampire that makes your skin crawl. Romance novels are still good to read but at least make the vampires actually vampires not something that you would buy at Jared's. I just want my real vampires again like Angel, Darren Shan, or Vladimir Dracula.

YOLO

"You only live once" has become the popular acronym YOLO. What I don't understand about this newest craze is how there some people out there that seem to think this means they should do something stupid. How could you think YOLO means go to a wild party and get trashed? Doesn't getting drunk off your butt usually lead to you getting sick or you possibly doing something you'll later regret? Thinking that you're living your life by getting blacked out drunk or even partaking in a drug is quite foolish. When I think of YOLO I don't think about it being connected to something that I will potentially regret later on in life or even the very next morning.
When I think about YOLO I think more of doing things that actually have meaning to your life. Like for example going skydiving to conquer your fear of heights. If you feel that you want to do something important with your life you could try joining the military, becoming a doctor, or even going in to teaching. You only live once so why not do something that actually makes an impact on the world. Start a charity that helps certain disease research make breakthroughs or even just to help the local people around your town. Personally when I think about YOLO I think about one day making that trip to Europe and taking a cross country road trip. I see myself zip lining through the trees in the Amazon Rain Forest. I can even see myself traveling to Africa to help run medical clinics or even helping to build schools. Not once have I every thought "I only live once so I'm going to get myself plastered/high". As I'm sure most people have done before one or the other at some point in there life. How many of you would want to repeat having that massive hangover and wondering what you did the night before? How many of you did something that you wish you hadn't? Wouldn't you rather wake up the next morning thinking to yourself "I actually succeeded in accomplishing something"? I don't think killing your liver or brain cells in one night is considered YOLO.
So next time you think "hey this is YOLO" why not take a step back and actually think about it for a moment. Is this actually a moment where you're going to do something that you're proud of? Is this a moment that has a potential to make you regret something later on? Try waking up in the morning and say "you only live once" because you're about to do something that you'll not only remember but be proud of.

Healthy Lifestyle

Well for my first blog entry today I'll be talking about people's drive or lack of to lose weight. Everyday I heard about how someone is overweight and that is the reason why they are unhappy. If you're so unhappy then why don't you do something about it? Why would you just continue sitting on your couch eating through an entire bag of chips by yourself day after day? It would make more sense that if there is a reason you're unhappy then do something to change it. Losing weight may take time but in the long run it will benefit you. Most people that are overweight actually suffer from quite a bit of medical issues. Some medical issues that can be related to obesity is diabetes, sleep apnea, and heart disease. Most people that actually lose the access weight manage to get rid of these health issues. Even worse part about obesity is that most don't realize that you're actually aging your body faster. This reason alone should be motivation to live a healthier lifestyle. Why wouldn't you want to be able to live a long life? Why wouldn't you want to be able to do things like going hiking or even just being able to keep up with your children? I would think that especially those that are parents would want to make sure that they are around for a long time to see their children grow up. Whatever the reason you should never let any excuse keep you from leading a healthy life. Don't let the excuse of "I have no time to exercise" or "I can't do it" keep you from doing what you need to do to get healthy. All a person truly needs is thirty minutes of exercise daily and you just need to watch what you eat.
Stop going out to eat for every meal. It's all right to do it once a week for one meal but the food you find in fast food places or even restaurants isn't good for you. In the long run you would actually be saving money by getting groceries and cooking at home. You would want to avoid saturated fats and trans fats as much as you possibly can because the body has a hard to breaking it down. Stay away enriched or bleached flour in your breads or carbs. You would want whole grain when it comes to your breads or pastas. As for meats a person would want to eat as little red meat as possible. Grilled or steamed chicken, turkey or even seafood is the best for you and will have the least amount of calories. People always whine about how healthy foods don't taste good when they don't bother to make it taste good by adding seasonings. Healthy foods can taste good if you take the time to make them that way.
As for the daily thirty minutes of exercising even if you're just doing running every day you have to do something that makes you sweat. The body was built to do work and to be active. How do you expect to lose weight if you don't do anything to burn the calories? You don't have to go to the gym to work out. Beachbody actually has a variety of fitness videos that help you burn calories or even build muscles. If your excuse for not exercising is that you don't want to do it alone there's always classes you can take (zumba, spin class, yoga, etc). It's about finding those exercises that you enjoy doing and making it part of your daily routine. This is usually where most people bring in the I don't have time excuse when there is always about thirty minutes every day a person actually doesn't do anything. I'm sure you even have ten minutes every day to some form of exercise (Beachbody offers a 10 minute trainer series for just this).
In short just a little bit of exercise a day and eating properly can actually help you in leading a long happy life. Why wouldn't you want to lose weight? Why wouldn't a person want to be able to live a long life without any medical problems? Just got to throw out all the excuses and just do it.
